New Entrants to Year 1 with Laura Engel
Kia ora, I’m Laura Engel and I am excited to be part of the Linden School team. This is my 18th year at Linden School, where I have taught tamariki from Year 0 to Year 6. I am learning with a Year 0 to 1 class in 2026. My teaching philosophy is built on whanaungatanga—I believe that when students feel connected, safe, and valued, true learning happens. I am passionate about creating a classroom culture where every learner’s identity is celebrated and where whānau feel welcome to be part of the journey.
Originally from The Netherlands, I now call Aotearoa home. I love being active in my local church and the wider community. Outside the classroom you’ll find me sharing time with family, particularly my three grandchildren, and friends. I enjoy reading, music, quilting, and papercrafts. I look forward to getting to know you and working together to make this a fantastic year for our tamariki.

If you are thinking of joining us in Room 1, and would like to visit us in our classroom, school visits can be arranged by contacting the office and arranging a time that suits you. You can make as few or as many visits as you feel your child needs. Please phone the school or talk to me to make arrangements.
Room 1 visits the school library on Fridays. Books issued in the previous week must be returned before new books can be taken out. Please remember book bags to help protect our books.
