How to be Involved

We welcome parent/whanau involvement in the school. There are many ways to be involved:
- In the classroom, making or maintaining resources.
- Putting reading books and journals away in the junior book room.
- Listening to students reading to you.
- Accompanying a class trip.
- Walking with a class to swimming lessons.
- Joining our road patrol team as an adult supervisor.
- Be a parent helper at a lunchtime club (in the past parents have run popular clubs such as Lego, Pottery, Sewing,  and Singing Clubs). You could even come along and supervise students playing board games in the Library at lunch time.
- Coach a sports team.
- Do some gardening in the school grounds.
- Being a part of the Friends of Linden School Group.
- Help out in the school office (eg paper shredding).

If you would like to be involved in any aspect of school life, please talk to your child's teacher or let the office know.

Friends of Linden School

The Friends of Linden School is a group of parents, caregivers, whanau and community members who have an interest in working with and supporting our amazing school. We are responsible for organising social activities and fundraisers to benefit our students and the wider community.
Our purpose is to support the teachers and raise funds for school resources and activities that will benefit our children. We plan and coordinate fundraising events such as disco's, gala's, raffles, BBQ's, fundraising lunches and our infamous stall at Spring into Tawa, as well as applying for grants. We also administer two school Facebook pages (Linden School Fan Club and Linden School Fundraisers). In the past we were able to contribute towards a variety of different things.   There are generally no meetings. We organise things in the playground, over email or Facebook. You do not have to commit to joining the group, just let us know if there is a particular event you would like to be involved in or if you have any ideas for fundraisers or fun social events.
It is a very rewarding experience to be involved in your child's schooling and it really benefits the school. You can be involved as much or as little as you like. Even sharing our Facebook posts or collecting Yummy Apple stickers helps us out! We would love to see new faces and hear fresh ideas!
In the last couple of years we have been very active in our fundraising and contributed towards:- Disco Lights (2018)- Linden School Banner (2018)- Kiwi Hockey Registration Fees (2018) - The new playground (December 2017)- The Fit Track (August 2017)
These are some of the fundraising events we have recently done:- Matariki Celebration (2019)- Tupperware Fundraiser (2019)- Sausage Sizzle at the Linden Social Centre (2019)- Fundraising lunches at school (generally every fortnight)- Collection of Yummy Apple stickers in exchange for sports gear (ongoing)- Craft sales (2018)- Strawberry plant sales (every year)- Raffle (2018)- School Discos (two in 2018)- Stall at Spring into Tawa (every year)- School Gala (2017)- Fit Track Opening event (2017)
If you would like to be involved please talk to Liz Jarvis, Maria de Haan, or Joy in the school office.

Current Fundraising

We are currently fundraising for a new entrance to the school. One that will be safer for the students and also represent who we are as a school.
If you would like to be involved or have any ideas or suggestions please let us know.
