Drama
Drama
June 2020 - Weekly drama classes have resumed with Mel Dodge. Each class spends around 45 minutes learning performing arts techniques through role playing, imagining and pretending. The children had lots of fun and the teachers did, too!
To celebrate the end of our drama lessons, the school is putting on a production called “Out of this World!” on Thursday 17th September. All classes and staff have roles in this production.
Community Clean Up & 'Colour your Day'
Community Clean Up & 'Colour your Day'
March 2020 - Caring for our local and wider community is important to our Linden School whanau. Last Friday the whole school joined in with our termly community cleanup at Kowhai Park and Tui Park. We cleaned up these areas to improve and enhance our community.
We also took part in “Colour Your Day” in memory of the love that resulted from the tragic shooting in the Christchurch Mosques one year ago. By wearing colourful clothes, it showed how we shine with aroha and empathy (two of the school values) and while doing so, we raised money for St Johns in our local community.

March 2020 - The new pedestrian entrance way has been completed and blessed, and is ready to be used. New gardens and an entrance arch are still to be developed.
Hurricanes Visit

March 2020 - Thank you to the Hurricanes who came to visit Linden School today: Ngani Laumape, Asafo Aumua and Du'plessis Kirifi. We enjoyed the games and activities they prepared.
Thanks to Cam Prestidge of the Tawa Rugby Club for organising the event and making this special treat happen! What an amazing day for the children and all the parents and whanau who came!

November & December 2019- The Linden Life Blood team has had a very successful run in the EPro8 Challenge. Coming 2nd in the heats, moving on to the semi finals where they also came second, then onto the Wellington finals where they placed 3rd.

August 2019- Linden School was lucky to be invited to a Poetry and Music event at Mervyn Kemp Library to celebrate NZ National Poetry Day. Five senior students attended and participated in the event.

August 2019- We had 3 days of amazing learning with Harold in the Life Ed van. On his last day, Harold even went out of his van to spend a bit more time with the children in each of their classes.

August 2019- Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's PJ Day and donated money. A total of $141.50 from gold coin donations and popcorn sales was raised.

August 2019 - The whole school went to Te Papa Museum. We all enjoyed exploring the different exhibits and areas of the museum. Thank you to all the parents and whanau who came with us on the trip.

July 2019 - Our students feature in the New Zealand Education Gazette article on redeveloping Wall Place Park .
This year members of the student council have been working with students from Tawa Intermediate, in collaboration with Wellington City Council, on a design project to give Wall Place Park a revamp. This month the project has featured in the Education Gazette.

July 2019 - The Student Councillors held a Wacky Hair or Dress in Stars and Stripes Day on 4 July to raise money to go towards seating for the new pedestrian entrance area. There were some amazing hair styles and lots of stars and stripes. Over $80 was raised.

June 2019 - We recently celebrated Matariki with a hangi and entertainment by the Poly club and Kapa Haka students. We were very privileged to have our amazing Poly club and Kapa Haka teachers Soi and Parehuia join us for the evening.

June 2019 - The juniors had an exciting visit from the local fire brigade, while the senior school were treated to a session on learning how to beat box.

June 2019 - We have been treated to an amazing show which supports our focus on reducing waste and recycling more. Linden School has accepted the challenge laid down to look after the planet, the animals and the people more so all can coexist in harmony.

May 2019 - Year 4 - 6 students joined runners from other schools at Grenada North for the Tawa Zone Cross Country champs. Great running by all participants and a couple of top ten finishes.

May 2019 - As part of the WCC run Waste Heroes programme, senior students had a field trip to the landfill and recycling centre to learn more about the importance of recycling and how what we throw away impacts the environment.

May 2019 - Room 7 attended the opening of the mural at Linden Social Centre. The students have been part of the design for this mural and received a certificate for their efforts.
The mural is a collaboration between artist Ruth Robertson-Taylor, Wellington City Council and children from schools in the area. You may recognise the main subject of the mural!

April 2019 - We were so lucky to have Jessie Gibbs from Narukami Taiko (a Japanese drumming group) and Gen Maehara from Daidabo in Japan perform for the whole school.
The children enjoyed the mini show and learned a lot about Japanese drums.

March 2019 - Swimming lessons at Tawa Pool are well and truly underway for the whole school. Great progress has been made by everyone.

February 2019 - We held a powhiri to welcome new students, new families and members of HHT and Kids Count (who are currently using our school grounds). It was a very moving experience for all involved.
E-Pro 8 Finals
E-Pro 8 Finals
December 2018 - Over the last week our amazing team competed in both the semi-finals and finals of this technology challenge. After winning their semi-final, they placed 5th at the finals for the Wellington region. We are super proud of their thinking, problem solving and collaboration together. In the finals they constructed a life size Pacman with moving jaws.

November 2018 - Elijah was awarded the citizenship prize for Linden School at the Tawa Citizenship awards. Congratulations to Elijah and his family for outstanding attitude to learning and life.
Phoenix Soccer Visit

November 2018 - Linden School were visited by members of the Wellington Phoenix team who joined in with students to play a game and pass on some useful skills.Being a part of the Phoenix in School programme enabled this visit which followed on from the school trip to a Phoenix home game earlier this month.
